Welcome 2021 Boys Little Laxers!
by posted 04/05/2021

Hello Little Laxer Families!

My name is Matt Coyle and this season, I will be the Head Coach for the Boys Little Laxers.  I am in my 8th year as President of the Robbinsville Lacrosse Association (RLA), and 10th year as a coach in the RLA.

Our first practice is scheduled for Sunday April 11th, 10am at Blakely Park, Field #3.

Our players will need all their equipment on Sunday:  Helmet, Mouthpiece, Shoulder Pads, Arm Pads, Gloves, Lacrosse Stick, Athletic Cup, and Cleats.

On Sunday we will hand out pinnies for our players to wear in games plus any other uniform items that may have been ordered.

**For anyone still needing uniform items, on Saturday, April 10th at 12:45pm, I will be available at the Blakely Park Sheds (near the RLA Wall) so you may look through the used equipment that has been donated back to us to see if there are items you can use instead of purchasing your own.

We will also have a few new starter sticks for purchase at $30 each, but they are first come first served.

If you are looking to purchase items on your own, you may try local retailers such as Lacrosse Unlimited and Dick’s Sporting Goods in the Nassau Park Shopping Center.  Staff at those locations can also assist with sizing, etc..**

----------------------

My fellow Little Laxer Coaches this season will be Matt Regulski and Chuck Savoca, as well as my sons who are also RLA Alumni… Cameron Coyle (RHS Senior), and Brendan Coyle (RHS Freshman).  Throughout the season we will also have additional guest coaches who are RLA Alumni and older RLA players.

Coaching alongside Cameron and Brendan who I coached from 1st grade up through 8th grade here in the RLA is such a rewarding experience for me.

To hear them echo the lessons we taught them on the field to a new generation of Raven is a beautiful thing and what we encourage all of our players to do.  Pay the gift of lacrosse forward.

You will find most if not all our communications on our team’s website:

Most of our communications will be conducted via our Little Laxer Team Page listed below or via email:

https://www.leagueathletics.com/Roster.asp?org=robbinsvillelax.com&MyTeam=940405

On our website you will find an updated calendar of events for our team and can also link the team’s schedule to the online calendar of your choice.

COVID PROTOCOLS:

To ensure we are compliant with our RLA Covid Protocols, we will utilize Team Snap to keep track of our player’s attendance at our practices and events.  Prior to each practice/event, a parent or guardian will need to complete the RLA Health Waiver to ensure the player does not have any signs of Covid, nor have they been exposed to someone who has Covid.

We ask that players come to the field and have a mask with them for times when they are not able to socially distance themselves.

We will work to keep them in smaller groups and spread out as much as possible to limit prolonged close interactions.

FOCUS OF THE SEASON:

The focus of this season will be teaching the boys to love the game and to have fun.  Our goal is to be relentlessly positive and help encourage the boys to work to learn the basics and know how they can work on their own to continue to improve and develop.  We will teach the boys about positions and the basics of what the team is trying to accomplish during a game.

Players will learn about and play all positions.  We will work on drills, challenges, and competitions which are appropriate for their age level and ability.

We are mostly geared towards practices but will also have a few games during the season as well.  The games will have coaches on the field to help continue to teach the skills we are learning during practices and how they apply during a game where there is competition.

It is our hope that after this season, the boys will not only have enjoyed their time, but look forward to coming back (and bringing a friend) next year.

We can’t wait to get out on the field with the team and get started.  It is going to be a great time!

Never Quit, Never Stop!  LET’S GO RAVENS!

Coach Matt Coyle
